WLS - D409 - Showman's Engine Toy Steam Engine
At the beginning of the twentieth century, this so called Showman's Engine could be found at every funfair. It was used to drive the showman's roundabouts and to provide illumination for the fairground.
The oldtimers were decorated with bright colours and fitted with a dynamo so that they could generate their own electricity.
A fully working live steam engine from the range of Wilesco Hobby Technique. This technically perfect model D 409 has been painted in matching colors. A chemically black painted brass boiler, diameter 1.8", length 7.3", boiler volume 14 in? with water gauge glass. Powerful, double action reversible cylinder. Flywheel with a diameter of 3.2". The showman's engine can be run in forward or reverse depending on the movement of the flywheel. Spring loaded safety valve, steam regulator, steam whistle, steam jet oiler and footbridge, traditional chain steering. A clutch engaged gear wheel permits the use of the engine and the operation of the dynamo either stationary or driving. The dynamo illuminates the eight diodes mounted around the canopy of the engine. The condensed water of this engine is collected below the smoke stack. Operating time about 15 minutes per fuel charge. All single parts are manufactured from finely painted metal. Length 13.0", width 5.9", Height 7.9", Weight: 4 lbs.
